Programs & Services
The Chelsea Center offered a range
of technical and business programs and services to support manufacturers that utilize or
are interested in utilizing recovered feedstocks in Massachusetts; municipalities
interested in developing or increasing a recycled product manufacturing base; and service
providers and others interested in learning more about the recycling industry. The Chelsea
Center also published a Directory of Services for the Recycling Industry that highlights
over 40 providers of technical and business services in Massachusetts. ADD LINK TO

The Chelsea Center offered a variety
of services, primarily to manufacturers that use, or are interested in using, recovered
materials. This work may be done directly with an individual company or on a sector-wide
basis. Based on the Strategic Plan for Recycling Market Development, priority materials
for fiscal year 2000 include, but were not limited to:
- Glass - mixed glass containers; other
(non-container) glass
- Paper - mixed paper; high grades
- Wood - pallets and shipping
containers; tree residues; construction and demolition wood
- Organics - food waste
- Textiles - used clothing
- Tires - new scrap tires, old scrap
tires
- Used Carpet - all grades
- Plastics - low density
polyethylene/LDPE (non-film); polypropylene/PP; film; mixed plastic bottles and containers
The Chelsea Center
offered programs and services such as Grants, Internships, Marketing
Assistance, Information Gathering and Dissemination,
and Referrals.
