The following
are the grant programs that the Chelsea Center had offered
Trade
Show Grants
- Purpose: To help manufacturers market their
products by exhibiting at trade shows
- Amount: 50% of exhibit costs, not to exceed
$500/company/fiscal year
- Number of grants awarded annually: approx.
12-15
Internships
- ReTERN, the Recycling Internship Program
- Purpose: To provide manufacturers with students to
work on a clearly defined business or technical challenge for a summer or semester, and to
provide students with real-world experience working with recycled product manufacturers
- Amount: Chelsea Center paid interns $10/hour
for undergraduate, $13/hour for graduate, for a summer or semester
- Number of internships: 10-12/year
Technical Research and
Development Purpose: Applied research to overcome technical
barriers to use of recovered manufacturing feedstocks in Massachusetts
Amount: Up to $50,000/grant
Priority Materials: construction/demolition wood,
electronics, food waste, textiles, tires; carpet, mixed glass and non-container glass,
mixed paper, mixed plastics, wood. Other materials allowed that meet goals of
solicitation.
Number of grants awarded: 4-5, depending on funding
Product
Development and Testing Grants
- Purpose: For
manufacturers to refine, develop or test products using recovered feedstocks, or who
require testing to implement or improve their use of recovered feedstocks
- Amount: Up to $5,000/grant
- Number of grants awarded: +/- 5, depending on need
and budget

Community
Economic Development
- Purpose: To link local economic development and waste
reduction needs through recycled product manufacturing
- Amount: Up to $25,000/grant
- Number of grants awarded: Up to four, depending on
funding
